| Description | Afrika Bambaataa’s second single on a legendary Tommy Boy 12". This one’s pretty simple: this is about making you dance by searching for the perfect beat. The lyrics certainly apply to hip hop style “beatdigging” and sampling but ironically this song features no major samples( see the Planet Rock RG entry for details on myths of Bambaataa’s samples). Looking for the Perfect Beat is the second Afrika Bambaataa single in the “dance” orientated format, he went on to use the the next two singles(Renegades of Funk and Frantic Situation) to touch on deeper social issues and culture. |
